Directly accross from the Brandenburg Gate, in between Starbucks and the French Embassy, you'll find a Museum called 'THE GATE Berlin'. There you can watch a mulitmedia show over Berlin's fascinating 300 year history. The best and most entertaining way to learn about the Brandenburg Gate and the events that took place there.

This was a dividing line from East to West Berlin. A wonderful structure that tells a story that we only experienced as fear in our childhood. It is also near other East German government buildings that are equally impressive.

If you only see one of the many sights in Berlin, this has to be it. All monuments have history of some kind, but you must just look up and admire. Yes it gets crowded later in the day, but you can still get a great picture.

worth a visit if you are in Berlin. Would like to have seen it in the dark. Did not realise the wall used to run along one side of this

It was worth a visit although we had to get off the bus and walk the last few hundred metres due to a demonstration. The police weren't helpful at all.

No first visit to Berlin is completed without visiting the majestic icon of the city, having read about it before our visit , made my visit most enjoyable, the beautiful architectural structure, that divided and united Berlin , a must see .

Very impressive - lovely to see both in the day and at night. Very busy and touristy (be careful of tricksters etc)

As one of the main attractions in Berlin it's frequently crowded. So if you want to get that really nice post-card looking photo be there really early.

A place steeped in history that is also told on boards around the area. Restored to its former glory it is well worth a visit. The area around the gate is also very attractive. I don't think you are going to find a time with the place quieter unless you go in the middle of the night. A very busy attraction. BE CAREFUL of the scammers in the area try to get you to sign petitions.

Knowing the history behind the places are great. Brandenburg gate is an amazing construction, which by itself is already worth it to visit. The place is usually always crowded with tourists and school trips, but it don't affect the good view

It felt a little strange standing under this location considering its history, but it was also inspiring . The only real problem is the amount of people that also wanted to visit the site. But I feel its a place you have to visit.

Must see, was surpised unlike other places one could walk through and touch and have a look. Visited before 10 in the morning was less crowded so was able to take good pictures. Later in the day too many tourist so very busy.

An architectural beauty, it really does take your breath away. Viewing on a day with blue sky and no clouds, its like looking at a painting. The square is lively with music and artists and teeming with tourists, bicycles and walking tours so trying for the best camera angle can be daunting. My advice is tilt upwards.

Everyone is posing for photos so they can look like they are pushing or holding up the pillars of the gate. There are people dressed up as soldiers and all sorts of costumes that have nothing to do with the historical or cultural relevance of the gate who will take photos with people and ask for money. It worth seeing but I would suggest earlier in the day before noon.
