The East Side Gallery is an international memorial for freedom. It is a 1.3 km long section of the Berlin Wall located near the centre of Berlin on Mühlenstraße in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg.

You can go to the section of the wall has been preserved for historic reasons and go to the tours. This section of the wall which extends for a several hundred meters has part of the wall featuring murals from artists around the world. Unfortunately, some idiots have sprayed graffiti over some of them. It can get crowded here with people posing in front of the more popular ones like Brezhnev in a kiss. Worth the walk down and enjoy a beer on one of the patios on the river.

Worth a look. Loved the different styles. We caught the hop on hop off bus dropping us in the heart of it. A must see while in Berlin!

Far away from where we were staying but worth the walk. Long stretch of varied artwork - some amazing, some average. Quite busy and not much else around. Be sure to walk around the other side of the wall too as there are some really interesting stories there

Enjoy amazing works of art for free!! It's a great walk with meaningful art pieces. There is also a cafe by the river where you can rest for a moment. Don't miss the oberbaum bridge near by.

I was here 4 years ago and the wall was very iconic with political graffiti. Graffiti writers have ruined almost half of it with tagging. I find it interesting that it's a world heritage site and this happened but in the other part of the city where the wall still stands, they put up a fence so it won't be chipped away. It was very disappointing.

We walked the full length of the gallery both sides & I was amazed and delighted by the beautiful artwork & the many messages that it carries. At the farthest end they are constructing a new building & it looks like part of the wall may be part of the building - hope that this amazing place is cared for & remains accessible to all for the future

13 rooms with projectors showing films leading up to the fall of the Berlin wall. Doesn't sound too great but the experience is fantastic. Very informative. Good level of detail. Not too expensive. Well worth a trip.

Your trip to Berlin is not complete if you haven't seen the East Side Gallery. The longest still standing piece of the Berlin Wall has been turned into an art gallery. A mile of significant art. Walk by it, touch it, read it, enjoy it. To get there take a train/bus/metro to Ostbahnhof, one end of the East Side gallery is just in front of it.

A beautiful stretch of the Berlin Wall painted by artist on how they saw the oppression on one side, and on the other side (facing the river Spree) stories from people who experienced horrible things in East-Berlin. Take your time and take it all in.

This was one of the things I really wanted to see when I decided to visit Germany. I took the yellow tour bus to the wall and was so disappointed, I didn't bother to look at much of it. It just looked like tacky graffiti. The original bits of the wall, which appear at various locations, have a much bigger impact. They are the REAL parts of the wall, albeit with bits "removed" by tourists. Once the original wall has been painted over, it then turns into any old bit of wall which could be ANYWHERE , with a splash of "vandalism".

Superb art on a poignant section of the Berlin Wall. Has changed since my last visit in 2013. Best on a sunny day. If busy can be hard to take photos. Far better than an indoor gallery.

Very moving to visit the Wall and the artwork is amazingly varied. No trip to Berlin would be complete without seeing this

Interesting artwork in a historical landmark, great artwork, too bad some got vandalised by street tags and dumb writings. But still a 'must see' in Berlin

If you're in Berlin at all, this is worth a visit. It consist of a remnant of the Berlin Wall, preserved, but painted over by artists from many countries. Some of the artwork has clear historical messages, some of it is funny, and some is quirky. It extends for over a kilometre, along a well paved street that is reasonably level; no hills to climb. Parts of the wall are protected by ugly metal barriers, but some of it is not. You can go behind the wall in places and see no-mans-land. Plenty of good value restaurants and cafes in the area.

Great artwork created by local artists on remainder of the Berlin Wall. I Was disappointed to see random grafitti over art. Ive been twice over two separate trips now and ive loved it both times

We were on a City Sightseeing hop on hop off tour and the bus stopped for about 30 minutes to see the murals. You could spend much longer as murals always give so much insight into the thoughts of the people during this past Wall era. It is worthwhile to see but we found other sights more interesting.

this is a nice walk with some so so and some super murals, representing a range of social political and sometimes simply odd or 'artistic' themes, but a nice way to costume a wall whose principal meaning is dark and divisive...
