Cozy atmosphere outside in the beirgarten or a corner table inside..the most delicious ente...or ganz (season permitting)...excellent service by Hannah! Tom is always smiling behind the bar, enjoying meeting the customers and making them feel welcome. Thank you for all of our memorable meals..you are always consistently delicious and friendly! I have eaten here 3 times in the last month and was each time very impressed by the combination of relaxed country atmosphere (It is situated at the foot of a hill in the English Garden and surrounded by trees and forest) and good food. In fact, the saibling (grilled char) was as fresh and tasty as in any specialist fish restaurant, while the traditional duck with red cabbage was as succulent as one could desire.

The atmosphere is cozy inside during the chilly months, and the outside patio is perfect during the warm afternoons after a nice walk in the woods. When we ate here in November they had Ganz as a house specialty...we returned 2 additional times to enjoy it before leaving for the USA. Last night we joined friends there and I decided to try the chicken satay with spicy rice....yummy! The ente is also a favorite of mine served with traditional homemade side dishes. The service is always wonderful and Adrian took attentive care of us, serving our drinks and meals in a timely, efficient manner with a smile. Thank you to the crew in the kitchen..your efforts are also appreciated by those of us lucky enough to enjoy home cooked meals when we come back to our other home in Munich! See you soon, Kristin

Typical bavarian food based on meat and fish with excellent desserts. Pork roast with speck and kraut salad plus topfen strudel. Good beer. The service was fine.

We went to this beer garden with local Bavarian friends of ours. The location is great but this is the only thing that is great be aware some very rude staff who make you feel like foreigners are not welcome !! And when you ask for a better service they say this is the way it works in Germany and then a lot later bring you over cooked food and a huge bill !! Very disappointed as Munich is a lovely city but if you are looking for a friendly beer garden with nice staff and good food this is definitely not the place to go !!!

Went here for a late dinner on a Sunday. It wasn't crowded at all. There was a very friendly waiter who spoke a spot of English. She recommended the goose which was just breathtaking in its size. Had a large appetite and it all vanished! The interiors are tell tale - the beer garden has been there for several years. According to my waitress - from 1407 or something! I would go there again!

On a perfect-weather day, it was nice to make the short detour away from our bike ride along the Isar River to have lunch in this biergarten. Service was professional and punctual. The setting outside was pleasant and fairly tranquil. Local specialties, especially from the northern part of Bavaria, are available, so we availed ourselves of a couple pork plates, mine with the spätle, which were prepared quite well and were generously sized. The price (~16 euros each) was certainly fair.

This wonderful restaurant is set in beautiful surroundings, very quiet but still full of atmosphere. The service and food was excellent with a great choice. Would not hesitate to return and would most definite recommend this establishment to anyone.

Had lunch on a weekday afternoon ... it was just about empty but it was mid-week in January when most restaurants and hotels are slow. Ambiance is plenty oldy-worldy with a modern touch; it's a place to see and be seen in Munich, the clientele is city's elite but it's not snobby. We had the steak tartare (good not great) and the Austernpilz salad (outstanding) and wurst with sauerkraut. Prices are fair and the service was prompt and courteous. Highly recommended, just be sure to get clear directions because the small street it's is easy to miss. Note: dogs are allowed in case you're traveling with your buddy.

we had roasted duck, red cabbage and potatoe dumplings. one can use between half or a quarter of a duck. delicious. the meat was soft, the dumplings perfect, the red cabbage ok. my brother had a dessert afterwards, Kaiserschmarrn, wonderful. but please share among two people. the young polish woman who served us, was fast, charming and delightful to look at. the atmosphere of the place is bavarian style, cosy, clean and charming. reservation recommended.

    * Lovely Sunday lunchtime, reasonably busy but, had plenty of staff on duty. * location & ambiance - Great location near the river & canal, nice beer garden - a bit, hm, snobby though * we sat inside at a table with another couple ( 3 occupied tables in our area ), waited 20 mins before anyone gave us a menu / took a drinks order. another 20 mins... soup ( for my girlfriend ) arrived plus one meal for the other couple - note: soup was very good another 15 mins... one meal for the next table and one for the 2nd person on our table - by this time, my girlfriend and the other lady had finished their lunch after an hour I gave up. Found our waitress ( who was just about to deliver my lunch ) and told her I was very disappointed and no longer wanted my meal. She told me ( brusquely ), to find the waiter who took the order - she then tried to run away - I caught her arm and informed her, that she had indeed taken my order. She snatched the meal away, muttering and went to the kitchen, returning 1 minute late with the bill. No word of apology, no offer of compensation, not even a coffee - thank you very much and goodbye!

The restaurant serves several typical bavarian dishes. The food is very tasty and the service is really good. They also serve locak beer at very reasonable prices. There is parking just outside the restaurant.

This is a lovely place with beautiful surroundings, where you can enjoy a nice drink sitting on the terrace. If you want to eat, perhaps there are better places, but for something small and nothing so special this will do ok.

you do not belive to be more or less in the middle of munich. The way to the Beergarden and restaurant leads to a nice surrounding with green fields, trees and cows. You end up in a very scenic not so big beer garden with higher quality than average. The service is quick and friendly, the beer is off course, very good and the kitchen is above average quality and price wise. Wich is ok. It is a lovley country surrounding just minutes away from the city. Very nice place.

Nice bavarian beer Garden under trees in the north end of the English Garden. Great for a glas of beer, but stay away from the Restaurant. Horrible, the cook will ruin every bavarian dish there is. Disgusting "Schweinekrustenbraten", rock hard dumplings, mushrooms in artificial cream sauce. Slow service, waiter hiding in the kitchen. And best of all, super expensive.

No, do not panic, it is not Schweinaxe in Curry sauce, or Leberknudelsoup with cream and strawberries... The menu offers a great Bavarian selection as well as other great international dishes such as Steak Tartar, Vegetable Curry, and other pleasantries. So perfect to mix several worlds. Where else can a meat lover have a raw steak tartare with a vegetarian friend having a nice Vegetable Curry? And both invited by someone that is really into Bavarian food? Or mix your meal, start with a salad, have an international main dish, and finish with a Topfstrudel. And everything very tasty, this is one of my favourite places in Munich.

We had plans to go for beer and food in the Englischer Garten. Could not get a reservation so we went of to Emmeramsmuhle. By car it is not too far away, A lovely place, a gem. I enjoyed the food very much, true German specialties and the beer is as always good.

It is a typical beer garden with many tables outside under large trees. The atmosphere is relaxing especially when the sun is shining. The food, Bavarian (big chunks of meat served on the bone, potatoes etc), served in large portions is average and over-priced. A plus is that the menu has other kinds of dishes (salads, pastas, fish...) but they are also just ok. The waiter forgot one of my friend's dinner, which was the risotto. It takes a while to cook risotto so my friend had to choose another dish. Later, the waiter did not offer a complimentary desert or coffee for his mistake. The restaurant has valet parking but the staff leaves around 9:00 pm, long before the restaurant closes. Just go for the atmosphere and not for the food.

Nothing to complain about. Not gourmet, predictable cuisine, but no negatives. Hard to reach by car.
