Had a lovely meal of Spanish salad and Tapas served by a marvelous waiter , Sergio! Not only was it nice not to eat German food ( although it is very good) because it tends to be "heavy" , The food, wine , service and atmosphere at Monte Cristo were truly a breathe of fresh air. Reservations are a must as this is a busy place with a lot of "locals". Viva Monte Cristo! Viva Sergio!

in search for a restaurant that closes late, we came to Monte Christo at about 10pm, it had a nice atmosphere and still somewhat crowded as per the waiters suggestion 5 tapas plates would be sufficient for 2 ppl. she was correct.... some dishes where better than others but overall it was good.

We had 4 tapas (creamed mushrooms, chicken in a fruity curry, tomatoes swirled in a pan, fried potatoes in a yogurt dip) 2 desserts & cheese. We sat outside in a covered courtyard Positives V friendly staff full of personality V large tapas Great buzzy atmosphere Located in town centre Able to sit outside Negatives Fried potatoes were underwhelming Manchego was ruined by the onion garnish

Had an absolutely amazing time. Some lovely tapas (vegetarian as well) accompanied by some fine company and even finer cocktails. Must go if you are in baden-baden for a wonderful evening. Also the staff was so friendly and helpful, just added to the ambience. Nice cosy tapas place.

We arrived without a booking and they could not have been more welcoming or helpful. The place was full but they explained that a table would be available 'in 5-10 minutes'; we smiled and said that would be fine, and we're immediately handed a complementary glass of wine each. Somewhere between 5 and 10 minutes later the promised table did indeed become free, and we were handed a very comprehensive menu, with some unusual tapas dishes on it. There were so many choices that we asked them to surprise us, and (I assume) the proprietor said that she would cook us something herself. All this in the throws of a very busy service, the place was full to the brim. Whether she did cook it herself I don't know, but it was superb food. Oxtail, lamb, lentils, manchego, aubergine.... I could go on. Probably a total of a dozen+ dishes at very reasonable cost. Mildly spiced chicken wings especially recommended. And very good wine too - we continued with the one given to us which cost around €25 for the bottle. Desert was included, and great too; actually 3 different ones on a single platter. Such nice people; friendly, funny, professional....and they can really cook too. Don't miss.

Unfortunately I did not make reservations. I showed up and was told I needed reservations. Fortunately I showed up as soon as they opened and was offered a seat at the bar and was told I had approximately 1hr and 20mins to eat my meal. I highly recommend you make reservations, specially if its for a party of 2 or more. It was just me when I dined here. The food was delicious and ingredients were fresh. I had three dishes which was enough to hit the spot. The tempranillo wine selections are outstanding. Staff was nice and and service was good. I can't wait to go back in August and I will be sure I make a reservation this time.

After an intense few days at a conference, I needed to recover. This was the perfect place. Table in the corner with a view of the room. The Tempranillo flavorful but not overwhelming. I ordered: Pan con tomato, mozzarella y pesto Caponata Galtas de Cordero a Rioja (my waiter's favorite - he guaranteed i would love it or he would eat it. He didn't get a sniff.) Best tapas I've had in a long time, maybe ever. Perfect decompression.

Had an amazing dinner here a couple nights ago. Having been from the United States, we did not speak German. Luckily for us, our waiter was from Portugal and could speak English, German, Spanish and obviously Portuguese. With half of our family able to speak Spanish, the experience was great as he told us about Baden-Baden and its history. The food was delicious, especially the goat cheese served on bread. We also recommend the meat balls, curry chicken, sausage, and the cheese balls. The drinks were great as well. Overall a great experience and dinner, almost caused us to stay in Baden-Baden one more night!

Menu is extensive -something for everyone. Service was very good. Our server suggested 2 to 3 dishes per person. We chose 5 dishes which was a perfect amount for us. It gave us variety and flavours blended well. Pleasantly surprised by modest bill. Recommend reservations.

The place is popular! We didn't have a reservation and almost weren't able to eat here but there was one table left outside which was even better than inside even on a chilly Oct evening. We got the tapas tour for 2 and it was more than enough food the food was excellent and absolutely accommodating for vegetarians love it

What gem of a restaurant in Baden Baden! The tapas preparation was very authentic and traditional. Keep ordering plates of delicious delicacies with a fine bottle of Spanish red wine, recommend anything from Ribeira del Duero for a memorable evening.

I have reviewed before and gave it an average score and it is the same again. I ordered 5 tapas and they were all out at the same time and a bit too fast. Most had good flavour but all could have been hotter! I did have some very nice Spanish brandy after my meal.

Authentic Spanish food, nicely prepared. Our waiter was from Cee, a small town in Galicia, in NW Spain. They had padrone peppers prepared as they are in Spain - simply fried in olive oil and sprinkled with some sea salt. We did't get a hot one, the Spanish equivalent of Russian roulette. Wait staff was frendly and helpful and spoke good English.

My husband and I tried Monte Christo on a recommendation from a friend and were very impressed. We showed up around 7pm on a Saturday without a reservation so we didn't have much hopes we'd get in. The owner opened the door for us and when we told him we didn't have a reservation he said we could sit at the bar (which has 4 seats) but we needed to finish by 8:15. Not a problem for sure. Once there, the service was wonderful. The waitress was so kind and sweet and treated us like we were family. The food was really good and the wine was even better! I'd make a reservation next time (it is a small restaurant), but certainly worth a visit!

This is a good Spanish tapas restaurant. I visited this place three times so far. My favorite tapas: mixed appetizers, prawns, deep fried sardines. But all the other tapas I tried so far were excellent. They serve good Spanish wines. The place is small, so if you go there in a large group (more than 4), booking a table in advance would be wise.
