My wife and I were in Liberty Village and looking for a restaurant. We found Union and were able to get same day reservations for 6:30. We arrived at 6:15 and had the choice of inside or patio. The weather was perfect and the patio was wonderful. My wife had scallops as an appetizer and mussels for the main. I had green gazpacho soup and a tomato salad. Everything was very tasty. The flavours of the scallops appetizer and tomato salad were particularly good. The menu changes daily. It is a little pricey, but absolutely delicious.

The place is just beautiful, really nice ambiance! The food was very good too, not a long Menu though...I went there with the whole family and all ended up happy. i did not wait much for a table, but when we got out, the line was very long!
The breakfast/brunch here is very good as is the cool and hip atmosphere incl. the lovely patio. This pleasant combination explains the lineups so be strategic about when you go. With no reservations taken, try to arrive early, close to opening time for Sunday brunch. They offer traditional breakfast/brunch AND some non-traditional brunch options. I have been here about six or seven times in the last four or so years, with the latest being Sept 2017. I really enjoy the the tartare (my usual), the trout salad and the basic breakfast. Nice potato rosti comes with most meals! Service is OK. Enjoy!

Stumbled across this place by chance trying to find another bar. Sat at the bar, just had drinks. I HIGHLY recommend the "frankie's fist" cocktail! Strong, but so tasty! We were looked after by the bar tender (didn't catch his name) really well. The decor was cool and even the washrooms were stylish! I need to make the Frankie's fist for myself now I'm back home in U.K.

Ate oysters and flank steak and ribs Felt sick immediately after the oysters, rib sauce was too rich, flank steak served rare. I felt ill throughout the meal, ended up throwing up an hour later...ruined my date night with husband, kid is with the grandparents. I came home and am in bed now with the chills. Even if I didn't get sick food is nothing special

A friend of mine made surprise reservations for us to go out while I was in town visiting - and this was a pleasant surprise Ambiance - we sat at the bar looking into the kitchen, so it was a different view than at the table, but it was great to see them using locally sourced items, and they were super friendly Apps - we went with the steak tartare (one of my favs) and the lobster mushroom tagliatelle. Both were delicious - a rich broth with huge mushroom bites, and the bite from he mustard with the tartare was great Main - we split the Cote de Boeuf. A huge cut of beef grilled to perfection, and mixed with great root vegetables and a side of fries. The homemade mayo was a great touch on the fries! Dessert - three of us to eat, three desserts to split! Creme Brule, Sticky spice cake, and a Pecan Pie. Every bites was delicious - but I was partial to the sticky spice cake

Yes, duck-fat griddled toast, champagne, and fresh oysters are a bit of a splurge even for a long holiday weekend but at this place worth every penny (and calorie!). Outdoor seating in back was great. Lively, casual vibe. Perfect.

I think I can call myself a patron of this place - I come here regularly and for a reason. This place is simply the best - amazing service and delightful food. All staff are super friendly and trying to make your visit good, they had a couple of odd hires over the years but it looks like these people didn't stay long. The food is amazing - everything is really well thought through and is a masterpiece. I highly recommend it to anyone! Love you guys!

Arrived late for a lunch appointment and ordered the first thing that I saw on the menu, a burger. The restaurant had a great vibe and appeared to be operating at peak capacity. Lunch arrived. I took a bight and was impressed by the initial burst of flavour. Then, I realized that the majority of the generous, hand-formed patty was not only was actually cold. I have eaten and enjoyed steak tartare, but this wasn't the venue or presentation that made me comfortable earring this burger. Unsuccessful in my efforts to attract the waiter, I urged my companion to proceed with his meal. 45 minutes later the waiter removed my uneaten meal without comment other than to ask if we wanted dessert.

Don’t eat here. You can’t get your legs under the bar and the “house tonic” has no flavor. The food is conventional, perfunctory and boring. The oysters are tiny. The chips are too salty; so is their aioli dip. The steak haché is underdone and has a silly, blah egg on top. The ribs are over-sauced. The “poulet” is not a chicken but half a chicken. The sides just lie there, except for the caramelized carrots, which are pretty good. It’s a loud, hard room, made worse by loud music. The prices would be aggressive if the food were really good; as it is, the prices are outrageous. Total rip.

My husband and I come here nearly every Monday night and enjoy the half priced wine and the hamburger which is amazing. It is so fresh and filled with so much flavour. Even when they don't have it on the menu they always try and accommodate us. The union salad is simple and delicious. The service is perfect.

Four of us visited and all left very satisfied. When we arrived it was very quiet but by the time we left the restaurant was packed, reservations are highly recommended. The restaurant itself is small and comfortable. The service was very good. We had oysters and the elk sliders to start. If there is any one single dish I would recommend the highest, it is the elk sliders. They are simply phenomenal. I would happily have eaten two or three orders of those as the entirety of my meal. The oysters were good, but not exceptional. For mains I had the cassoulet, which is a MASSIVE portion of pretty much pure protein; slow roasted duck leg and pork belly on a bed of beans with a mysterious crunchy topping. Incredibly hearty, filling and rich. We also had two orders of the trout, and lasagna. Of course the menu is always changing so this may all be moot. For dessert we had the sticky ginger cake, which was exceptional. Overall just a wonderful experience for my palate.

Steak and sides all cooked to perfection, a nice bit of spice and excellent service. This restaurant is on the costly side, but it's really worth it. You'll leave extremely full and satisfied with your dinner.

Walked in to shelter from a snowstorm. Really enjoyed sitting at the bar and chatting with the incredible staff here. Went in for drinks, ended up having dinner. Loved the elk sliders👊🙌

Nothing gastronomically exciting, but everything is well prepared with great ingredients. Steak tartare is one of the best and elk sliders are also taste worthy. Rotisserie chicken is very moist and fragrant, but the sauce is overpowering and slightly salty. Sticky ribs are smokey, moist and flavourful, with a sauce that again might be overpowering. Gnocchi is good, but not sensational by any measure. Ginger cake is really good. Service is very good and wines are reasonable.

I found about Union through Monocle magazine, a source which always comes through for me. The food and wine was just marvelous as was the knowledgeable and helpful staff. The wine list featured some Ontario winemakers, and we agreed Pearl Morissette's Chardonnay would be a regular at our table if we lived in these parts. The open-faced elk sliders with pickles and a Thai-style duck sauce came highly recommended and did not disappoint. The same goes for the more straight-ahead French cuisine such as scallops with lemon caper sauce (sauce grenobloise). We still can't get over how well the flavo(u)rs came together in the trout with mustard sauce and beautifully prepared beets. Both the sticky ginger cake and the date cake complemented the meal perfectly. "Soup to nuts" before tip for just 60 USD/79 CAD per person. Did we have to wait? Yes. Was it worth it? Absolutely! Delicious! My son and his family eat here a lot and recommended just about everything on the menu. Impossible to choose a bad dish. Even though it was really crowded the servers kept their cool and delivered with a smile. I would definitely go back.

I recommend making reservations. We started with steak tartare and scallops. The portions were huge - really enjoyed. We ordered the ribs, gnocchi and mackerel - again massive portions. The gnocchi was pretty spicy but still tolerable. For dessert we had the creme brulee and it was more of a melted ice cream consistency than custard. Overall, food was good. We would visit again.

Warm welcome! Delicious food: yummy, tender mussels with crispy fries, fantastic brunch-style egg dishes, and a burger that my dad loved.

We were early for our 6 pm reservation so we had a beer at the bar since they do not serve food until six. We had told the host that we had tickets for the nearby theatre at 7:30. We were assured there would not be a problem and there was not. We were seated immediately at 6 and given the menu of the day. We shared a mussel appetizer which came in a whitish clear broth and fresh baked bread. Delicious! Even better than the usual red sauce served in many good places. I had the grilled trout on lentils which was okay but not outstanding. My partner had the sticky ribs which were fantastic. Tender and tasty falling off the bone in a delicious sauce. She let me try a little, only a little. We were too full for dessert but will be back again to try them. The list looked enticing. Relaxing atmosphere with friendly staff and patrons. We were not rushed but finished in good time for the theatre. The clock in the bar is stopped at 5:35?
