We were tired and starving and a restaurante in front of the channel, with a menu of 17 euros looked like a bad choice. But we tried anyway and that was a very good surprise. The soup and salad were very tasty and the meat very soft. I recommend it !

We stopped at this terrace on the river bank which was nice and heated after unsuccessfully tried the fully booked more charming places in town. Food was good but not special, large dishes, however very slow service. Good quality symbol is they have prime Spanish virgin olive oil at the tables.

Nice atmosphere by the river with very decent food. The service is reasonably fast and the staff friendly.

I just had a pleasant drink with my husband during a visit to Ghent. It was sunny and mild, and the terrace was packed with locals & families & dogs, plus tourists. It was tough to find a table during the mid-afternoon but once we sat, it was a charming time. Service was as quick as you can imagine with a packed terrace.

Had starter with a drink just for a snack. Very tasty and just right mid afternoon. Good value for money. Pleasant surroundings and very central where all the atmosphere seems to be. Not pressurised by restaurant itself when choosing whether to eat there.

Lovely resteraunt in a row of resteraunts by the canal. The specialty steak was amazing - so big and beautifully cooked to order.

Despite the location being "touristy", the quality of the food was supreme. As always, if it's not a specialty restaurant, stick with the regional classics and you won't be disappointed. I had the best stew of my life here - Flemish pork cheek stew in dark beer. The fries that accompanied it were real belgian frites and the salad was surprisingly tasty as well. The service was great, the food arrived quickly and so will I the next time I visit Gent.

Strolling around beautiful Ghent and we came across this restaurant. It offers excellent value for lunch, around 17 to 19 EUR depending on the day. The staff are friendly and v efficient. One of us had the set lunch menu. I had the goats cheese salad with lardons, and what a lot of lardons! Before we ordered we were given olives and a crab salad appetiser with bread. We enjoyed the food v much and will be back. Great atmosphere.

The manager was on top of everything, making for a perfect lunch stop in Ghent. We had amazing service with lots of joking/interaction given my rather loud family of 5. Too much sun: they put up a bunch of extra umbrellas. Food was incredible and affordable for eating out (under €25 pp). Highly recommended.

Nice restaurant in center Ghent. In touristic are so prices a bit higher but the food and service is great. Had the double dark beer flemish stew - highly recommended. A good portion of food for the price. Servers and host top class - we were with a very chatty 3 yr old and all staff were attentive and had fun with out little one - all smiles and very accomodating with all requests so made evening very comfortable.

We had lunch there, it was pretty occupied and the food was excellent but the service was quite slow. We ate spaghetti bologneise , a beef steak , two different salads , a set lunch , a pasta with grilled chicken and a few chilled beers. The bill was around 120 euros. Every thing was fresh and very well cooked. We sat outside by the river which let us enjoy the weather with our meal.

We made a visit with friends to Gent. We had a lunch for 17€ of good quality with good service. Busy restaurant, make reservations if possible. This is my 2nd visit and I will return when in Gent

Visited this restaurant at many occassions both with friends as business relations. Was never disappointed. Fair price for a goodlooking, tastefull plate of local specialities and/or other -most- european meals.

Service was good (not great!) but french fries were absolutely not good and totaly average food. We had steak and it was averaga too. I souldnt recommended this restaurant. Next door was better! Průměrná restaurace, hranolky naprosto příšerné, ostatní jídlo naprosto průměrné. Radši zavítejte o pár dveří dále, kde mají úžasnou jídlo i obsluhu. Tady obsluha dobrá.

Seems touristy from the location, but the food is really excellent. We both had the beef stew with the brown ale and it was delicious. A great lunch spot on a sunny (or rainy, sabot was for us) day. A good place to try some Ghent specialities. Try the gruut beer.

We were a bit dubious about this restaurant as it is in such a touristy place, opposite the boat trips, but after reading some TA reviews we thought we would give it a try. As it was asparagus season I had them for starters. I was expecting small asparagus, but they were huge and served with chopped hard boiled eggs. Sounds a strange combination, but they were really good. My husband didn't order a starter and this is where it all went a bit wrong. The restaurant was really busy and we got the impression that they had a lot of new staff. When we ordered we asked for the main meals to be brought together, but the bowl of fries that were meant to accompany my husbands beef stew arrived. This was the biggest bowl of fries we have ever seen, and we suspect it was delivered to the wrong table. Then the beef stew arrived, so my husband started, rather than let it go cold while I finished my started. The head waiter realised their error and did offer to take the stew away and fetch another when my main (vegetarian wok) arrived. The stew was so huge my husband declined as he said he was unlikely to finish that one, never mind if they brought another!! The beef stew was really good, and the meat nice and tender. The vegetarian wok was an enormous helping, so no complaints about portions sizes or food quality. Rather bizarrely you could have the wok with pasta or rice. It also came with parmesan, which I don't eat with being vegetarian, but they had no hesitation when I asked for it without. Only slight negative is that the tables are packed quite tightly together and if you don't like people smoking while you eat, then you may find this an issue. We ended up sat next to a lovely young couple, who even translated for us when the waiter asked a question that neither of us understood. Great place to people watch and enjoy the late evening sun. Blankets are provided for chillier evenings too.

ate here 2weeks ago on a sunday, i didn't had much time cuz i had a meeting in 30min. The waiter called Karlos told me and SOLD me a lunch and made it all possible in less than 20min, entré & main course and coffee. never have i ever got my food so fast and delicious! the atmosfere was great. Never have i ever seen a young talented waiter than Karlos, he can make all kinds of tricks to impress all people on terras, from carrying a mountains of glasses to a mountains of dishes with a single hand and a great leader aswel. keep up the good work boy!!

Out of all the waterfront restaurants - this might be one of the best for lunch. Absolutely delicious food, and an amazingly good value with the lunch menu. I had the seafood casserole - just delicious--& good variety of fish in it! Hubs had the steak bernaise. Lunch special is a 2-course meal, soup/salad + entree, and is absolutely worth it. Great service, very friendly. Only drawback, as some have mentioned - seating is a bit tight, but all the waterfront terraces tend to be that way. Would def. return!

I've got chicken waterzooi and something else and I liked it. The smell coming from dishes which were served to other clients was amazing and I regret I couldn't order and eat more. You may want to dress up a bit for going there, as interior is adequate and clientelle is dressed up in general, per my observations.
