Barcelona's version of the Ace Hotel. Very well-located on Gran Vía halfway between Eixample and Diagonal Mar neighborhoods, Casa Bonay is a hip hotel with a great restaurant (Libertine), café (Satan's Coffee) and roof deck in beautiful Beaux-Arts building that oozes creativity.
Patisseria Hofmann's mini-sacher tortes are exquisite and contain a sublime balance of chocolate ganache, chocolate cake and raspberry in a pastry the size of a macaron. At €10 for a sleeve of 10 tortas, they're a steal and a reason alone to visit Barcelona. Don't miss them!
Boutique luxury retail that's a cross between Five Story and Bergdorf's. Much better for men than women (except shoes and bags, which are well curated), as the selection for women is a little limited and skews heavily toward ubiquitous global designers (Stella McCartney, Saint Laurent, Chloe, Lanvin, etc.). Menswear has less exoteric European labels (Fay, Borrelli, Incotex, Glanshirt), more variety and some great finds.
