    With 5 seating levels in a grandiose building, The Met is one of the world's premiere opera houses. Ticket prices vary but rush tickets are available for weekday performances. Be sure to arrive on time, latecomers aren't allowed in until intermission.

    The museum is housed in a 1936 subway station and showcases the history of public transportation throughout the history of New York. Definitely take advantage of the free guided tours.

    The Guggenheim houses a collection of over 7,000 objects but the most famous is probably the Frank Lloyd Wright designed building itself. We recommend starting at the top and working your way down to avoid the flow of the crowds.

    A great affiliate of MoMA that is housed in a former public school building, hence the name. If you are there when the weather is warm make sure to visit on a Saturday to enjoy their 7 hour dance parties.

    The Frick opened to the public in 1935 and was the residence of the collector before that. The building is equally as impressive as the collection it houses but children under 10 are not allowed entry so be sure to make arrangements beforehand.

    A must for any photography lovers, the collection on display here spans two floors and hosts some of the best modern photography in the world. The gift shop is one of the best in NYC and is a great place to pick up prints, books, and magazines.

    An impressive indie music venue that was recently renovated. There are 3 bars on 3 different levels so if you can't find the view you're looking for, try another floor. The main acts usually start up around 11 and be sure to watch out for stage divers.

    Radio City first opened in 1932 and has hosted some of the most famous names in music. If you aren't able to see a show here there are inexpensive tours available that will let you see one of the most famous venues in the world up close and personal.

    An excellent collection of modern American art, the permanent collection boasts over 19,000 works. The museum is also a great place to get a burger in its basement restaurant Untitled.

    One of the world's most famous concert halls, Carnegie Hall is actually composed of 3 separate auditoriums. Although not easy, it is possible to get $10 day of tickets or partial view for 50% off in advance.

    One of the few galleries in the world that is able to put on museum quality shows. The gallery is closed on Sundays year round and Mondays and Saturdays depending on the time of year so make sure to visit mid week.
