A 7.5 mile in-and-out hike that ends with a beautiful meadow that looks like it shouldn't be there. Pretty moderate in difficult. Be sure to have lunch at the top of Mt. Prospect and follow the white-marker Appalachian Trail all the way through. For more info, check out www.alltrails.com/trail/us/connecticut/rand-s-view
Came here after a moderate hike to Rand's View along the Appalachian Trail. Decided to come her on a recommendation from Aaron Rudenstine. Really glad I had a huge crew to eat with, so we were able to try pretty much everything. My only regret was not being able to try the cajun food. Bennett Chinn came out to say hi and hung out with us for quite a bit. It's cash only, so come prepared!
Trail in Town of Mount Washington, MA, United States
Had a great trip here with the crew. Very family friendly, easy hike to the falls from the parking lot. Weirdly saw a ritual where a tribe of dressed in African clothing were sacrificing a watermelon to the waterfall. Not making this up at all
Took a bit of a detour on the drive back to the city so we could stop here. Half the shop has some tables where you can sit and work, and the other (more interesting) half is full of interesting beers, available on tap and in bottles. We spent quite a lot of time just exploring the shelves and picked up a few to enjoy for later.
American Restaurant in Fishkill, NY, United States
Came here for a relaxing Labor Day brunch on the drive back to the city. No surprise that everything's quite good, but remember to ask for their specials. We sat outside, but had a chance to admire how beautiful and ornately decorated the inside of the restaurant was. Super nice staff too.
“Onteora Lake in the Bluestone Wild Forest is just inside the beginning of Catskill Park (if you’re coming from the east). Most people heading to the Catskills drive right by it because the lake is hidden among the trees. Although it is a favorite of local ice fisherman, its hemlock and oak forests, rolling hills and old quarries are ideal for a snowshoe trek or cross-country ski.”
