Original Benjamin's is a Myrtle Beach stalwart, loved as much for its gargantuan seafood buffet as for its eclectic nautical decor. Each of the nine dining rooms has plenty to occupy your eyes, including an 800 gallon saltwater fish tank with sharks and eels, museum-quality nautical relics and an impressive collection of model ships.

Named after the famous cartoon character with an affinity for sandwiches stacked to the ceiling, Dagwood's Deli follows the same recipe for a longtime, lunch-time favorite that has patrons lined up out the door. Beat the rush by calling ahead and picking up a picnic package that won't leave you hungry.

The name may say Italian, but the sign out front says "Greatest Steaks in the Universe," and there are many repeat customers who will testify to that statement. Hand-cut Grade A steaks are cooked and served on a cast-iron skillet, sizzling their way all the way to your table and drawing the envy of those around you who wish they hadn't ordered the linguini.

Hamburger Joe's is the perfect lunch spot if you're on a tight vacation budget. In fact, you can probably afford to splurge and get some wings and a beer along with your cheeseburger, which comes heaped with cole slaw, chili, onions, lettuce, tomato, pickles, or whatever combination you'd prefer. Kids enjoy the fried bologna sandwich, hot dog, or grilled cheese; grown-ups appreciate the onion rings - and the fact that they can get a rum and coke or a Long Island Iced Tea with their burger.

Famous singer/songwriter crooned about the perfect burger in the song by the same title, and now his restaurant, Cheeseburger In Paradise, brings it to the masses in a unique tropical setting. Featuring 100 percent Angus burgers with a myriad of toppings, CIP allows its guests to build their own dream burger to their own specifications.

Fans of brick-oven pizza swear by Amici's, which is known for its crispy thin crust and mounds of melted cheeses. Although pizza is the most popular item on the menu, Amici's also serves a wide range of Italian classics, from lasagna and spaghetti to chicken a;fredo and clams casino. Despite its Broadway at the Beach location, Amici's has become a bit of a locals' favorite and draws a nice mix of crowds during the summer months.

You'll either love it or hate it, but you'll never know unless you try it. Extra large portions of typical American food - ribs, steaks, chicken wings, fried shrimp, buckets of fries and the like - is only half the story. The other half is the legendary service rendered by the saucy and energetic staff. Some folks say the servers are rude and disrespectful; others say, "Lighten up, it's all in good fun!" However you interpret it, you're sure to agree that Dick's has its own distinct personality.

Think non-corporate Chuck E. Cheese's, but with top-notch pizza. There's an amazing playspace for kids and a sports bar for parents.
