Minka says: amazing shipping container village filled with loads of awesome shops and local businesses but it also some excellent places to grab some food with friends, especially if you're heading to the Brixton Academy to see a gig. They also have events on here regularly so check their website to see what's on, such as their annual New Orleans Mardi Gras party! www.minkaguides.com

Minka says: You know those nights when you stumble across an awesome little bar that totally makes it the perfect evening out? Well that was this place for us last night! The Hill Station in Tooting Broadway Market only opened last month but it has the good vibes already finely tuned. This tiny bar is themed around a Himalayan mountain shack, serving up a range of incredible cocktails that had us bouncing off the wooden walls till closing. www.minkaguides.com

Minka says: Bingo halls aren't usually high on my list of places to visit, but if you're up for a evening of bingo then this is the place to go simply because the building is outstanding! An Art Deco 1930's listed gem that was originally a cinema and live music venue, with Frank Sinatra and Carmen Miranda once performing here. Since the 70s it has been a bingo hall and all the original fittings have been beautifully preserved. Well worth a visit. www.minkaguides.com

Minka says: Greenwich is gorgeous and is a really lovely area to just wander around. But if there is one place you must visit, this is it. A flamboyantly decorated Baroque dining hall painted by James Thornhill. The neo-Classical chapel opposite was used as the film set for wedding #2 in Four Weddings & a Funeral. www.minkaguides.com

(GF) (VG) Minka says: They're only open for brunch on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, with a menu that features all the key ingredients you'd expect: smashed avocado, rose harissa and shakshuka (not all in the same dish). Many of the dishes are vegetarian or vegan and they are apparently quite good at catering for gluten-free diners (the Frizzle Chicken on their evening menu gets rave reviews from many intolerant reviewers). www.minkaguides.com

(VG) Minka says: Situated just outside of the hectic hub of Rye Lane, Rosie's is a quintessentially South London cafe. The original Rosie's was opened in Brixton 12 years ago by Rosie Lovell, writer of the adorably named cookbook Spooning With Rosie. It was an institution in Brixton Market and only closed last year when they grew into this larger space in Peckham.
