The menu at Potlikker is one of the most original and inspired we’ve ever seen, with dishes that most chefs in town aren’t even talented enough to think of, let alone execute.

The East Village is now officially home to the lowbrow specialty foods of New York City, and Bobwhite Counter’s trade is Southern inspired eats. They’re specifically known for their fried chicken and a mind blowing pork chop sandwich.

That all changed when we paid a visit to La Vara in Clinton Hill. La Vara explores the Jewish and Moorish side of Spanish cooking, which means new and exciting dishes, and probably a history lesson.

Legend Bar & Restaurant is about as authentic as Sichuan cuisine gets in this town, and it’s presented in an accessible way so that even people like us aren’t intimidated.

You could make an argument that this is home to the best chicken wings in NYC, and all of the other pork related bar food fare is pretty excellent too. Also, this is definitely one of Stang’s best reviews ever.

It’s dishes like the fried chicken leg and handmade ramen that make Crave worthy of your time, even if you have to travel uptown. Oh, and don’t sleep on the chocolate chip cookie with bourbon ice cream.

Slowly but surely, this area is developing into a neighborhood with some awesome restaurants, and The Pines is leading the charge. The Pines is home to some of the most creative and exciting cooking we’ve come across lately, and the food is excellent.
