    Designed by Spanish Architect, Rafael Gustavino, the basilica was constructed in 1905 and is the only one in WNC. It was elevated to the status of Minor Basilica by Pope John Paul II. At 58' by 82', the basilica's dome is the largest freestanding elliptical dome in North America.
